HW Creativity
New Media most definitely fosters
creativity. It has allowed us access to a diversity of ideas and the means to
produce. With all of these tools available to users, everyone is able to
creative, both professionals and non-professionals. The best part is you do not
have to spend an abundance of money. We can create in the comfort of our homes
with our laptops. We are able to watch how-to tutorials and become creators and
producers. There are endless benefits of digital technology. In the article,
“1+1+1=1 The New Math of Mashups”, Mark Vidler stated, “You don’t need a
distributor, because your distribution is the Internet. You don’t need a record
label, because it’s your bedroom, and you don’t need a recording studio,
because that’s your computer. You do it all yourself.” We have plenty of opportunities because of New Media. In a virtual world of unlimited ideas, only creativity
could arise. New Media has benefited the music industry as well. Jeremy Brown
was able to adjust the tempo in a song called “Debra” by adding live drums and
human beat-box noises he recorded at his house. These tools allow artists to
create their own rendition of different songs. In addition, for me, Social
Media has fostered creativity. For example, I use Pinterest (a catalog of
ideas) to try out new ideas for fashion, hairstyles, make-up, home décor, and
many more. Before New Media, I wouldn't have considered myself an extremely
creative person. However, it enabled me to try and create new things. Also,
because of New Media, I took an interest in editing, photography, and
marketing!
Hey Alicia, I wrote about the same article for my blog post. It is crazy how much you can do with your imagination and now with the advancement of new media the options are endless
